Problem upgrading from !6.5 to 18.0

Problem with my custom searches when upgrading from 16.5 to 18.0
I have custom searches (Start with search) where the user enters a value in a IMDB field and Inde returns all records starting with the value.
I upgraded to 18.0, all "start with" searches stopped working. Inde returns 'no records found'. Only exact value searches work. So I reverted back to ver 16.5

Sounds like the update is either changing or not honoring the Compiling Parameters -Logics:

What happens if you add a % or * to the search value entered?

And have you tried wiping out the output directory and then recompiling? Sometimes I've had to do that.

Jack: I am aware of the new Like-Type new feature and did not change anything. It seems the issue comes from the fact that Inde no longer recognizes the values entered in IMDB fields. The pic shows the result of a test that does not involve any search
- enter a value in a text field, click on the button, Inde returns the name of the button instead of the value entered.
If the field is a number the behavior is different - one has first to move to another field and next click on the button for Inde to return the value. Enter the value and click on the button does nothing as if the field was left empty.

I gives me the same impression as if I go home tonight and my house key no longer works ???

Forgot to mention that when I revert back to Ver 16.5 things work as they are supposed to and as they have always worked; no issues at all. For the time being I am sticking to ver 16.5.

Wow, that does sound hosed.

I tried to recreate in a project, but could not reproduce. It works as expected for me--message box prints the value in the imdb fields (one is a number field and one is a character field).

Does this attached project mess up for you? If not then I would create a new project in 18 and copy all my stuff over to it to see if that makes a difference.

Same issue. I am going to uninstall and reinstall Inde and see how it goes.

UPDATE:
After cleaning registry, cookies, output directory, I uninstalled, reinstalled INDE. Using the express version - NO change, the issue still persists.

What browser(s) and version of browsers are you using?

After my last post I switched browser, the issue seem to have disappeared. I have always used FF, it recently upgraded to 60.0
When I use Vivaldi, things seem to work as in the past. I'll keep on testing.

UPDATE:
The issue is browser related. FF 60.0 is the culprit. When using Explorer, Chrome, Safari, Vivaldi there is no issue.

Confirmed! With the sample program I posted, I get the incorrect behavior with Firefox 60.0.1. I even rolled Firefox back to 58.0.2 and had the same issue with inde 18.0 r6.

What is happening is the value of the imdb field isn't available until you tab away from it. I would think that is normal. What isn't normal is the button that triggers the messagebox isn't reading the value of the imdb field if you click on it directly after entering data into its matching input box.

And when I roll InDe back to 16.5 r7 it works correctly with Firefox, just like you reported.

If I enter a name in the name field and then tab to the next button and press enter (to activate the button), then the message box shows the correct value.

If you could enter this as a malfunction and point to this thread as a reference that would be a big help. I don't see any mention of this on the Italian forums, and since FireFox 60 is supported, this would be a good bug to get fixed sooner than later.

Thanks for confirming. I already reported the issue to Giuseppe yesterday with a link to this thread. Now my issue is after uninstalling and reinstalling Inde, I am stuck with the Express version. I reported that too. Hope this will be resolved very shortly.

Excellent--thanks for finding this. Most of my users are on Chrome but I have a few using Firefox. I'll have to hold-off upgrading to v18 for my existing apps until it is fixed, since I use custom imdb tables for query forms quite a bit too.
