IDManager 20 Issues

Postby john w » 19 November 2015, 19:25

I have a love/hate relationship with the IDManager. I finally ran the .exe to update the IDManager from v19 to v20. Now its in Italian. When I do get it the point where I can set the default language to English, it shows English but the text is in Italian. Kind of a mystery to me why this is true. Any suggestions

John,

Seems like I had that issue at one time too. I think I ended-up uninstalling and doing a fresh install of idmanager. I know on fresh installs I haven't seen that issue.

Here is a screen shot of IDManager 20 (with English text) running on a Windows box with IIS, just to give you some hope :-)

I still have not been able to get this resolved. Its an annoyance, the earlier versions were not a problem.

Hi John:
Is there a particular reason you want to use IDManager to publish on the server?. I do not use IDManager and update my Apps 2/3 times/week manually (process is simple) without any issue. At least if something doesn' t work (which is rare) I know where to look.

I have been deploying manually via FTP as well. Thanks heavens we can
do that.

I guess it simply drives me buggy when something does not work. Especially when its the Italian vs English language issue, it seems like it should be a simple fix. When its working IDManager does make it easier.

I use IDManager all the time. It is installed on several servers, both Linux and Windows, development and production.

John, just a wag, but I've had issues on more than one occasion with TeamWorks, IDManager, and my own apps if the temp folder for the application on the server doesn't have the proper permissions. Might be worth granting everyone access to it as a test, and if that fixes it then scale back on the permission level (IIS_IUSRS full rights--see picture):

I had a post relevant to TeamWorks for this a while back.

The other gotcha (which I think you actually posted about a while back) is the Application Pool for IIS. Now I get into the habbit of creating a new one for each application, and setting them to the same settings the IDManager install uses:

Jack - I will give that a try. I had to change permissions on the IDManager site folder. So perhaps I need to do the temp as well. Worth a try.

My temp folder has all the permission and still no change to language. Its still running in Italian.

I suppose I could learn Italian but that seems unnecessary when v19 worked.

Sure seems like a setting isn't taking.

Other things to try:
  1. Look at your IDManager\DBXML\ROOT.xml file--in mine I have for the first two tags:
    Code: Select all
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <RootSystem LOTS_OF_STUFF_OMITTED LANGUAGE="ENG">
  2. Backup your IDManager\DB\RTC.db file, delete it (might have to cycle IIS to do that), and see if you can recreate it by going back into IDManager (or do a fresh install of IDManager to make sure it is created).
  3. Double-check your permissions on those two folders too (DBXML and DB).
